Republicans Choose Donna Meier as Statehouse Candidate

Manchester/Glastonbury—Area Republicans on Tuesday night unanimously endorsed Donna Meier as their candidate for state representative in the 13th District.

“I am grateful to all the people in this room who have helped me along the way, as well as many others who have provided guidance and encouragement. Let me especially thank my husband, Will, who has worked tirelessly helping with my campaign.”

Donna was endorsed at a convention held in Manchester. Mark Tweedie, former state representative for the 13th district, and current chair of the Manchester Republican Town Committee made the nomination, which was seconded by David Cordone of the Glastonbury Republican Town Committee.

“As a strong analytical thinker, an excellent problem solver, and a formidable advocate, I will fight for policies that make Connecticut and our towns safer and more affordable, and I will fight for the right of parents to raise their children without government interference.”

Donna, [63], decided to run for office because she has talked to many people who feel that their concerns are not currently being represented in Hartford. They feel like they do not have a voice, and it is time for change. “I am excited to get out and speak with constituents of District 13 to learn more about their concerns, their hopes, and their ideas for solutions to the challenges we face.”

Donna and her husband, Will, live in Manchester, where they raised their children. Donna has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell. She has experience working in industry and for non-profits, and currently works in insurance.

The 13th District includes Manchester and Glastonbury.
